Y’all….how lucky am I that I get to celebrate love and new starts every single day?! When I am booked for a wedding, I take it as a great honor and spend months prepping for the day by praying for our couples, working on timelines, chatting with our brides and grooms, and getting really excited about watching months of hard work play out perfectly in front of our couples friends and family. When one of my friends books me for their wedding day…its feels like the BIGGEST job in the whole wide world. I don’t want to mess it up. I don’t want to have them worry about anything. I want them to feel as beautiful and special on their wedding day as I see them every normal day. But when its a friend like Ami, I panic a little…get sweaty palms, and get a little nauseous before I walk into her bridal suite to start the day. I have prayed and loved on her and her fiancé, Scott, like I normally would…and I have prepped like always…but this bride thinks I hung the moon and has told everyone she knows that she booked THE BEST. She constantly sends you messages saying things like, ” I can’t believe you will be shooting our wedding!” and ” I don’t care what you do…I know its going to be amazing! Im so lucky!” All.The.Pressure. Its not pressure because I thought I couldn’t deliver but pressure because I desperately WANT her to have all that she expects and hopes for. When people think you are special…it just makes you want to prove yourself even more.
This wedding was not just beautiful but it was also crazy emotional and heartfelt and lovely. Ami was stunning and Scott was incredibly handsome. I am pretty sure we caught him the minute he lost his breath watching his bride walk down the aisle. Our cold December forecast turned bright and sunny and 70 degrees…just for Ami…and the day could not have been more perfect. Mary and her crew at Georgia Grace Weddings were phenomenal , our friends at Gardenia Floral Design provided epic florals for the day, Jenny Sue Makeup and Jamie Lovett helped make Ami and her girls extra beautiful that day, and Graduate Athens was the most perfect backdrop they could have chosen to host their friends and family.
This day provided the perfect reminder for me of what is most important about my job as a wedding photographer. My job is taking pretty pictures and providing great customer service and all…but most importantly its about providing our couples with a home base. We provide that FIRST memory of their life together, a start to their new story, and a place to land when the day is done. Home. All for the sake of finding home. Ami and Scott…we love you guys so much and can’t wait to experience forever with you. <3
