The Mays: Family (Charleston, SC)

This past weekend we went up to Charleston, SC to shoot family pictures and engagement session! I love that city and so does Anthony…so needless to say we had a great time! The best part of the whole deal was that we got to spend some much needed quality time with my sis-in-law and her crew. Margie feels like a sister. Like the REAL kind. Most of you know that Im an only child…and I have always wanted siblings that I could hang out with and laugh with and cry with…Margie is that kind of sister to me. All of Anthony’s siblings have taken me in as their own and I love when we get to spend one on one time with each of them. (*Tessa…if youre reading this I love YOU TOO…you’ll get your bum fluffed tomorrow when I post your engagement session. :) heheheh)

Margie and her hubs, Derek have the best kids. Seriously…the best. They are kind and sweet and just all around great children. Their lil miss, Sydney was Riley’s personal assistant all weekend so I didnt have to do ANYTHING! **I think I might adopt a 7 year old…it was a HUGE help. :)  Kyle and Nick were wonderful older cousins to my little chubs too and we had a wonderful time catching up and spending time together. Without further ado…here are some pictures from their session! ***And a few of Riley at the park with everyone too!

quick note!

Hey friends!

I stink as a blogger lately…but I have two posts coming next week so…hold on, they are-a-coming! :)

I wanted to post a quick note about our charities from May & June. Here are the links, and we want to challenge everyone to check out these sites and DONATE! Today we got word that one of our chosen charities for the fall has been closed. These charities NEED us friends…they NEED these donations. Every little bit helps…we praise the Lord for the opportunity and I pray that your hearts get moved too. :) Here ya go!

Mennonite Central Committee :https://donate.mcc.org

*and an Athens, Ga. based charity that several of our friends have benefited from..

Loran Smith Cancer Center :https://web1.armc.org/landing.cfm?id=774 or check out www.armc.org for more info!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Catching up on the good stuff

Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekend was awesome and that everyone was able to play outside in the wonderful weather! We shot Leslie & Mark’s BEAUTIFUL wedding Saturday and I will say that the weather could NOT have been better. It rained the day before, desolving a lot of the built up pollen and leaving beautiful clear skies behind…it was wonderful. :)

So….Im going to double up today to make up for falling behind with our monthly charities. So, Im posting TWO of our charites this morning! No fear, I have made our donation but just never got the chance to sit and blog it.

So….that being said, I am happy to announce that the charity selected for April was the International Justice Misson or IJM as its better known. This organization fights against injustice for victims of abuse…especially children that are forced in to the sex trade industry in LOTS of countries. This is a much more real and prevelant problem that most people would expect and having seen documentaries that IJM has put together and spoken first hand with someone who has worked for them, this organization has my heart. Having riley completely changed my heart for children and I realized that they are so delicate (both emotionally and physically) and that they are to be protected and cherished and loved on…not beaten, abused, used for sex, and left feeling hopeless and alone. The real truth is that Jesus is Hope…and IJM offers Jesus. And they do an amazing job saving these kids and (more importantly) following up with them…making sure that they arent left asking “okay..whats next?” If you are interested in learning more about IJM or want to donate to this organization go HERE or straight ot their website at www.ijm.org. :)

Knowing how busy we are going to be in the next month, Im going to go ahead and post our next charity! The charity for May is an organization called Thirst Relief! Thirst Relief responds to the worlds water crisis. They focus primarily in Africa and South America (and more recently on Haiti) providing clean water for drinking to those in need. Water is something we all take for granted and Im so excited about being able to help spread awareness about this organization! You can check them out or donate HERE…or by going to their website at www.thirstrelief.org.

NOW…on to pictures… :)

THIS is Halston! Halston is our intern, Hannah, boyfriend. We had a blast shooting his senior pictures right here at my house. Hannah did great shooting too and although I’d never met Halston before, he was super easy going and was a great sport about us taking our time with him. Here are some of our favorites…and of course I HAD to grab some pictures of he and Hannah together… :)

There you have it folks…12 awesome charities that you may or may not be familiar with…but over the next 12 months you will get to know each one much better! Im about to put my first check in the envelope so we can send it out Monday morning and I encourage each of you to take some time to consider all of your blessings! We are so excited to know that over 2010 we are going to be able to play a small part in helping people who need it. Praise the Lord for all His blessings and I pray sincerely that our feeble attempt to help those in need erupts into something really HUGE for our readers and community and even more so for those who benefit from the charities we have selected. Its never to late to give friends and we hope that seeing these charities profiled on our blog encourages you to give too! I have already received emails from several of you that have said you will match our donations or give on top of our donations so…we’re counting on you doing that!!! All that being said, here is our first charity and how/where you can give too!

Mercy Health Center of Athens

(Click on the link above to donate!)

Mercy is actually a charity in Athens that is near and dear to Anthony and I. Tracy Thompson is the director there and I have known Tracy since I was in the 6th grade. She worked at my middle school and her sweet sweet daughter Lindsey and I were in youth group together. Tracy’s heart for those in need is incredible to watch and its more than evident in her actions that she really believes in what she does. Mercy Health Center of Athens is a non-profit center that provides health care for those who have no health insurance and cant get medicaid/medicare. Its all volunteer based and they offer an array of medical services for those that need it. Anthony is actually one of their volunteer pharmacist and I used to do spanish to english translating there prior to Riley coming around. :)  Doctors all over volunteer there and it takes lots of hands to run this clinic but I can tell you that many lives have been touched just by Mercy being open. We are really excited to give to them as our January charity…check out there link to see the ways you can help! They need more than just money…they need supplies…they need hands…they need prayers. So, here we go…let the donating begin and remember for those of you that donate too…we’ll send you some fun MPP stuff!

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone and we will see you next week!

Johnson and Johnson’s new ad…

Okay…maybe not. But it SHOULD be. :) I just had to show everyone this lil’ naked bummy (and for all you newcomers to the blog, this kid belongs to us :))! It was right before bath time and he was a great sport…this shot is BEFORE he peed on the floor. :) Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Maggie: Kid Shoot

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone!!!

We have been slammed and I hate to admit it…but our blog is suffering for it! :( wah wah. BUT, we’re back and have lots more coming to you in the next few weeks! And now on to the goods…Lil Miss Maggie!

I have known this sweet baby’s parents since…well…since forever! I met her dad, Derek, when I was just 19 (a whopping 8 years ago!!!) when I worked at a local music store in college. I then met her mama, Holly, when she stole Derek’s heart. We shot their wedding…we shot Maggie when she was born and still in the hospital…and now this sweet little miss is almost a year and I cant believe how fast this time has gone by. Holly and Derek and expecting again this spring and we cant wait to be there for that as well. I thank God all the time for this family being a part of our lives. I am so excited to see what the NEXT 8 years hold for all of us! So, with no further ado…here is sweet Maggie. (Oh…and YES…she DOES look just like her daddy!)

I had to include these two as well. Anthony and Riley tagged along with me for this one and we just HAD to get these two little friends together. :) heheeeh Boys… :)

Alrighty…now Im off to celebrate the holiday & my birthday and spend some good time with my friends and family! Im so thankful for all of our faithful blog readers…for all of my wonderful clients….for my friends who I love very much…and for my family who I could not live without. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Our little chubs is 6 months old!!!

Hey everyone!!!

I cant believe that our sweet little baby boy is 6 months old already! I feel like I have Vaseline on my shoes and Im walking on banana peels right now because he’s growing up so fast and no matter how hard I try to stop it from happening, time just slips out from under me. Dont get me wrong..Im ready for him to walk…and ready for him to make me homemade birthday cards…and for him to say “I love you mommy”…and ready for him to give me slobbery maple syrup kisses after breakfast… BUT, Im not ready for him to change. If he could just be a more independent super genius 6 month old that could speak and manage a crayon in his hand that would be awesome. :)

We took our annual family trip (with our friends Jill and Eric too!) up to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm in October and of course we had to take some pictures of our sweet little guy. Sooo…for all intents and purposes, these will serve as his 6 month pictures. :) Here ya go!

He would NOT look at the camera for a minute..silly little guy. But we got him!

(oh…above. Thats his granny bird! :) )

And lastly…no trip to Burts Farm would be complete without a hayride to visit Autumn and Gordy…he love’d them!

Violet: Kid session

I have been taking this lil doll face’s pictures since she was in the womb. She keeps getting cuter every year and its so fun to watch her grow. We headed out to the park for her session and she had so much fun watching the ducks and running around like a crazy…she’s REALLY good at that! hahhaah She and Riley love playing together and I cant wait for the day when he can run with her…okay…maybe I can. :) Happy Happy late birthday miss Violet….you sure are growing into a sweet and beautiful little girl! Now on to the goods…
