I have no idea how to even start this post. When I was 8+ months pregnant I answered an email (well…her 2nd email!) about bringing on a 2nd shooter into our company and I met with Courtney in person at our studio. She was kind and bubbly and answered all my questions professionally. She seemed sweet and honest and we have the same tattoo on our foot…it was going to be the perfect match. I just didn’t know how perfect. She shot her first wedding with me when my Riley was only ten days old and now we have shot almost a hundred weddings together! She’s been with me for 6 out of my (almost) 10 years in business and its been the most crazy, fun, exciting, stressful, amazing journey with her and I couldn’t have prayed for a more perfect fit. She has fought for me when I was too tired to fight for myself. She has pushed me to keep running when I just wanted to quit (figuratively AND literally #AthHalf2012). She made me feel special and like I was the BEST when I was full of self doubt and worry. And now, six years later and I’m saying goodbye to one of the best people I’ve ever known. She is SO much more than kind and generous. She has a deep respect for people and a love for others and all of her awesomeness is going to make her an amazing mom. Her husband Taylor is finished with his PhD and they are moving to Iowa as I type and my heart is breaking as I think about how this little baby won’t really know me like my children know Courtney. BUT…I know that Iowa has great things in store for their little family. Courtney is launching her own photography business this fall and she and Taylor are starting the greatest adventure of their lives together in having this sweet baby. I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to visit already….although I should probably wait until they have at least unpacked the moving truck before I show up at their house. 😉
